Biography
A physician-scientist committed to precision and compassion
Dr. Christien Kluwe is a radiation oncologist at the Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center. He began independent practice in 2020 at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center before joining the Mays Cancer Center in 2022. He brings a physician-scientist’s rigor to every case, combining advanced clinical training with a research-driven understanding of how radiation therapy can be used most effectively and safely.
Dr. Kluwe’s clinical focus centers on genitourinary cancer, benign musculoskeletal conditions, and metastatic disease — including strategic, metastasis-directed therapy — and he maintains broad experience treating central nervous system, thoracic, and gynecologic malignancies. He believes that clear communication and genuine partnership with patients — not just technical precision — are essential to good cancer care, and he takes time with every patient to explain the reasoning behind each recommendation.
